Calvert Manor Corporation
Public Water System ID MD0160004
The Calvert Manor Corporation owns and operates a community water system, which has two wells, ample storage facilities and mains for the distribution of water throughout the Calvert Manor subdivision, a 130-lot community. The Corporation was organized and incorporated in 1954 and began water service in 1955, which has continued without major disruption ever since. The Corporation is a stockholder-owned company whose only business is supplying water to Calvert Manor, and only owners of property in the community own the stock. The business is operated by a resident board of directors of up to nine members, which meets monthly to plan improvements and meetings of the stockholders, and to oversee the day-to-day activities of the operator, billing agent, and system coordinator. Stock in the Corporation is available to every lot owner, and six shares are needed to draw water. The system is fully automated and each house connection is metered. The meter readings form the basis of the water bills that are mailed out quarterly. The water quality is monitored by the Maryland Department of the Environment and routinely meets all state and federal standards for potability and normal household use.

Special Note About COVID-19
During this time, as always, Calvert Manor Corporation maintains proper disinfection of our water and continues to test for bacteria monthly to provide the community with safe drinking water. We are monitoring latest developments on the novel coronavirus and will comply with all federal, state, and local requirements as they occur.
From the EPA:
“The COVID-19 virus has not been detected in drinking-water supplies. Based on current evidence, the risk to water supplies is low. Americans can continue to use and drink water from their tap as usual.
EPA has established regulations with treatment requirements for public water systems that prevent waterborne pathogens such as viruses from contaminating drinking water and wastewater. COVID-19 is a type of virus that is particularly susceptible to disinfection and standard treatment and disinfectant processes are expected to be effective.”
